Pair caught buying cocaine from undercover deputy
Detectives from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit learned of two men who wanted to purchase multiple kilograms of cocaine powder. An undercover detective began conversations with them to broker a deal. Eventually, a price was agreed upon to purchase three kilos of cocaine and a meeting was set up to deliver the drugs.

According to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara, the meeting took place on Fisherman’s Wharf in Ft. Pierce last night. The undercover detective met with 37 year old Jay Arthur Green Jr. of Sebastian and 49 year old Mark Edward Bellamy of Vero Beach at the location where Green and Bellamy agreed to purchase three kilograms of cocaine for $30,000 per kilo. As soon as the money and drugs were exchanged an arrest team moved in and took the pair into custody.

Sheriff Mascara said a total of $98,860 in cash was seized during the transaction. Both defendants were charged with Trafficking in Cocaine over 400 grams and Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine. They are being held in the St. Lucie County Jail. Bellamy has previous arrests for marijuana and cocaine; his bond was set at $1,075,000. Green has no previous drug charges and bond was set at $200,000.
