St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces arrest of elementary school teacher for sexual activity with a minor
Today, St. Lucie County Sheriff's detectives arrested a 29-year-old St. Lucie County elementary school teacher for the second-degree felony of unlawful sexual activity between an adult older than 24 and a minor 16 or 17 years old, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"Our detectives obtained a judge's order to arrest Quotaysha Jones of Port St. Lucie, a teacher at Mariposa Elementary School," Sheriff Mascara said. "She was arrested this afternoon, after the end of the school day. Her victim, now 17, is confined at the St. Lucie County jail awaiting trial on three criminal charges."
Detectives learned of the relationship, viewed video recordings of 39 visits between Jones and the juvenile jail inmate and interviewed the teacher and the juvenile. The teacher denied the relationship was sexual, but the juvenile admitted to detectives that it was.
Jones is being held without bond at the St. Lucie County jail until a court hearing Saturday morning.
