St. Lucie County Sheriff asks public's help to catch boat thief shown on video surveillance
Just before midnight, a man broke into a boat storage business in unincorporated St. Lucie County and stole a $45,000, 23-foot twin-engine motorboat. Sheriff Ken J. Mascara is asking for the public's help to identify the man who stole the boat.
The theft took place at Crowne Plaza Large Vehicle & Boat Storage, 8663 U.S. Highway One, Port St. Lucie (http://goo.gl/maps/RmPac), where a heavy-set man drove a pickup truck to the front of the business, cut a hole in the fence, cut the chain on the electric gate opener, slid the gate open and went inside, Sheriff Mascara said.
He then hooked the boat up to his pickup truck and drove away.
"I am asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 in St. Lucie County, or St. Lucie County Sheriff's detective offices at 772-462-3376," Sheriff Mascara said. "Those who want to give their information without giving their name can call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS . The caller will be given an identification number that can be used to redeem the reward."
The boat is a 23-foot 2005 Polar 2300 Center Console with twin Yamaha 150 outboard motors.
