St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara announces pursuit and arrest of Kidnapping Suspect. Victim safe and recovering at local hospital

At approximately 10:44 p.m. on December 21st,  Deputies responded to the Tropicana Processing plant located on Midway Road in Ft. Pierce for a report of an abduction of an employee of the facility that had just occurred.

The victim, Theresa Dawn Spears, 31 years of age from Port St. Lucie was getting into her vehicle to leave the plant at the end of her shift when her former boyfriend, Antonio Jermaine Presley, 31 of Ft. Pierce, forced Spears into her vehicle and fled the scene with Spears still in the vehicle. Spears’ fellow employees at Tropicana were able to provide responding deputies with a description of the vehicle the suspect and victim were traveling in.

The suspect fled from deputies with the victim still being held against her will in the vehicle. The suspect was apprehended at the scene. Both the victim and the suspect were taken to a local hospital. The suspect was treated for minor injuries and then transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.

The suspect, Antonio Jermaine Presley is a career offender with a lengthy arrest history. Presley is a designated as a Career Offender and Prison release re-offender.

Sheriff Mascara said: “The suspect in this case was a very dangerous individual with a violent past.” The Sheriff continued… “If not for the actions of our patrol deputies we can only speculate that this incident could have had tragic results.

The suspect faces a number of charges including Kidnapping, Carjacking, Fleeing and Eluding, Aggravated Stalking and Reckless Driving with Property Damage.

Further investigation determined Presley and Spears were involved in a relationship in the past but the relationship has been over for just under one year.  Recently Presley began following Spears and harassing her.  Records show in their past relationship Presley was arrested for shooting at Spears and her sister in February of this year.
