St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces arrest of second suspect in gunpoint robbery of 16-year-old boy Nov. 16
St. Lucie County Sheriff's investigators have arrested a second suspect in the gunpoint robbery of a 16-year-old boy Nov. 16.

"On Monday, detectives arrested Edward H. Clark, 17, of 1116 Ave. E,  Fort Pierce, for robbing a 16-year-old victim, who was walking home from Fort Pierce Westwood High School," Sheriff Mascara said.

Sheriff Mascara said, "Juveniles with guns often commit crimes in our community. In this case, we were able to arrest both suspects before they could commit additional crimes."

"On Nov. 20, we arrested Clark's accomplice, 16-year-old Deshon Q. Copeland, also of Fort Pierce," Sheriff Mascara continued. "Clark and Copeland stole a gold chain and crucifix from The victim. All three are students at Westwood High School."

The victim knew Copeland by name and recognized Clark as someone he saw in Copeland's company at school, but the victim did not know Clark's name, according to detectives. He later saw Clark at school and told a School Resource Deputy. The deputy was able to identify Clark from surveillance video, and the victim identified Clark in a photo lineup prepared by detectives.

Detectives took Clark into custody. He and Copeland are confined at the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center, Fort Pierce, a facility operated by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
