Annual St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office clergy appreciation luncheon is Thursday
Sheriff Ken J. Mascara will be holding an annual clergy appreciation luncheon by special invitation on October 18, 2012 to thank members of the local clergy and volunteers for their work at the St. Lucie County jail.

The luncheon will take place at Westside Baptist Church where Dr. Dale Ingersoll has provided their facilities for the event.

What started about nine years ago in the jail chapel with a small group of about 20 clergy members has grown to more than 200 clergy members and volunteers participating in this year’s event.

At the luncheon, Sheriff Mascara will acknowledge the religious leaders and volunteers who assist the Sheriff’s Office’s Department of Detention with religious programs, individual counseling, and the Re-Entry Program that assists inmate in making their transition to living productive lives following their confinement.

Special music will be performed by Recording Artist Dr. Willie J. Russ, Kingdom Word Abide (KWA) and Angelia Bell, an accomplished pianist, singer and songwriter. The Sheriff’s jail food service provider, Aramark, and jail inmates enrolled in the jail’s culinary arts program will prepare the meal.

“It is gratifying to see so many committed members of the local clergy and volunteers sharing our vision to support a vigorous jail ministry, “Sheriff Mascara said.  “The Sheriff’s Office benefits from the volunteer work of these individuals and churches that make a difference in the lives of those who are incarcerated.  It is because of them that we are able to continue these programs and to do so effectively and efficiently.”
