St. Lucie County deputies issue citations in Wednesday afternoon's three-car crash that sent 5 to area hospitals, according to Sheriff Mascara
St. Lucie County deputies have issued citations to two drivers in Wednesday afternoon's three-car crash at 25th Street and Edwards Road just south of Fort Pierce, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

Emily Kim, 17, of Fort Pierce, driver of a northbound 1999 Pontiac, was cited for running a red light. Chayla Golden, 17, of Fort Pierce, was a front-seat passenger in the Pontiac.

Also, Maincia O. Garcia, 34, of Fort Pierce, driver of an eastbound 1997 Kia sport utility vehicle ("SUV") was cited for driving without a license and failure to use a child restraint for 10-year-old Krystal O. Aguilar, of Fort Pierce, who was a passenger in the SUV's back seat. Her mother, Maria L. Aguilar, 49, of Fort Pierce, was a passenger in the front seat of the SUV.

Driving an eastbound 1992 Lexus sedan was John A. Terrell, 39, of Vero Beach.

Investigating deputies said Kim, driving north on 25th Street, ran the red light at Edwards Road, and collided with the eastbound Kia SUV driven by Garcia. The SUV hit the Lexus, and then the SUV flipped onto its side.

All the occupants of the three vehicles, except for Chayla Golden, were taken to area hospitals. Ten-year-old Krystal O. Aguilar was airlifted to a trauma center in Palm Beach County. The other four were taken by St. Lucie County Fire Rescue ground-based ambulances to a hospital in Fort Pierce.
