Charges are pending in this afternoon's three-car crash in St. Lucie County that sent five people to area hospitals, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
The crash took place shortly before 2 p.m. at 25th Street and Edwards Road, just south of Fort Pierce, Sheriff Mascara said.
According to deputies, Emily Kim, 17 (DOB 6/28/95), of Fort Pierce, was driving a northbound 1999 Pontiac in which Chayla Golden, also 17 (DOB 7/9/95), of Fort Pierce, was a passenger.
Maincia O. Garcia, 34 (DOB 2/1/78), of Fort Pierce, was driving an eastbound 1997 KIA sport utility vehicle ("SUV") in which Maria L. Aguilar, 49 (DOB 12/15/62), of Fort Pierce, was a passenger in the front seat and Krystal O. Aguilar, 10 (DOB 1/11/02) of Fort Pierce, was a passenger in the back seat. Krystal Aguilar is the daughter of Maria L. Aguilar.
John A. Terrell, 39 (DOB 3/29/73), of Vero Beach, was driving an eastbound 1992 Lexus.
Deputies said the northbound Ponitiac sedan made contact with the eastbound Kia SUV, which made contact with the eastbound Lexus sedan. After the Kia SUV and the Lexus made contact, the Kia flipped onto its side.
Ten-year-old Krystal Aguilar, a passenger in the SUV, was airlifted to a trauma center in Palm Beach County, and the four others were taken by St. Lucie County Fire-Rescue ambulances to a St. Lucie County hospital.
