St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara invites women to sign up for self-defense class taught by deputies
Women are invited to sign up for a September self-defense class for women taught by St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"The name of the course is R.A.D.: 'Rape Aggression Defense.' This program is specially designed to help women enhance their personal defense options in case they are attacked," said Sheriff Mascara.
The 15-hour course will be offered Sept. 4, 5, 6, 11 and 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sheriff's Office headquarters, 4700 West Midway Road, Fort Pierce , Sheriff Mascara said. The minimum age for students is 13. Minors must be accompanied by an adult female family member.
Sheriff's deputies who are certified R.A.D. instructors will teach the class.
The non-refundable course fee is $40 per person and $20 for each additional family member. Pre-registration at the Sheriff's Office is required.
