Friday afternoon, authorities in Indian River County found the body of 80-year-old northern St. Lucie County resident Stanley Goldberg in an old grove off U.S.1, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"Mr. Goldberg, of 5808 Kilarney Avenue, Fort Pierce (Lakewood Park), was found, deceased, in the driver seat of his car," Sheriff Mascara said. "On a preliminary basis, there were no obvious signs of criminal activity. He was suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease."
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
A concerned neighbor on Tuesday reported to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office that he had not seen Goldberg since the previous Saturday. He was seen in Vero Beach Monday where he stopped to fuel his car.
