Electrical power surge knocks out St. Lucie County jail visitation system until new one is installed in August, according to Sheriff Mascara
An electrical system power surge has destroyed the St. Lucie County jail's video visitation system. A new system is set for installation in August, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"The old visitation system can't be repaired," Sheriff Mascara said. "We are already preparing to install a brand new system in August. Until then, visitation by family and friends for jail inmates will not be possible."
Visits to jail inmates by attorneys and other professionals will continue to take place.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Mascara encourages family members and friends to communicate with jail inmates by telephone and postal mail.
