St. Lucie Deputies locate missing swimmer from Avalon Beach
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputies continued their search just before daylight this morning and located a body in the surf approximately one quarter mile north of where a swimmer went missing yesterday.
Deputies were conducting an early-morning search of the shoreline looking for Surendra Sri Thakur, who went missing after being caught in a riptide at Avalon Beach about 12:09pm yesterday. The Sheriff’s aviation unit was searching by air and at 6:35am spotted what they believed to be the victim in the surf just north of where he was last seen. Additional deputies responded to the location and recovered the victim.
The body found was identified by detectives as Surendra Sri Thakur. His immediate family was notified of his death. ***
