St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces recovery of 7-year-old child in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the arrest of her mother
A seven-year-old child whose mother illegally took her from Florida, has been recovered in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the mother was arrested, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"Sheriff's detectives worked with the Missing Persons Unit of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to reunite Kendall Paige Freeman with her father, Kenneth G. Freeman, Jr., of Port St. Lucie," Sheriff Mascara said. "Our detectives also obtained an arrest warrant for the girl's mother and ex-wife of Mr. Freeman, Jennifer Lynn Hannis, 38. Las Vegas police arrested her Saturday."
She is currently confined at the Clark County, Nevada, jail, awaiting her return to Florida.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office worked with the child's father to obtain the necessary court orders to allow recovery of the child and arrest of the mother, Sheriff Mascara said. It was determined that she was travelling with a boyfriend under conditions endangering the child's safety.
"Our detectives' investigation revealed that the mother and child were in Las Vegas last Wednesday," Sheriff Mascara said. "After we notified authorities there, the child was recovered, and Jennifer Lynn Hannis was taken into custody."
