St. Lucie County members and volunteers will wrap Christmas presents Saturday morning for needy families, media welcome
Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to noon, members of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and volunteers from the community will wrap a room-ful of presents for needy families in St. Lucie County, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

Members of the media are welcome at St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office headquarters, 4700 West Midway Road, Fort Pierce 34981-4825. There is a map locator link later in this news release.

"It is a St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office tradition to help needy families at Christmas time," Sheriff Mascara said. "We collect donations of money, non-perishable food items and toys, and members of the Sheriff's Office and the community will wrap the presents Saturday."

Last year, the St. Lucie County Christmas Families project provided gifts and food for 70 families with more than 150 children.

Members of the community can contribute by making checks or money orders payable to "St. Lucie County Crime Prevention League." Contributions are tax-deductible. The League is organized under the 501(c)(3) provisions of the U.S. tax code. Contributions can be mailed to:
"Christmas Families Drive, c/o of Dorothy Shaw, St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, 4700 West Midway Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34981-4825." Donations also can be brought to the Sheriff's Office during business hours.
