Golden Ponds community in northern St. Lucie County will donate 13 bicycles to needy children Monday, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara
The northern St. Lucie County Golden Ponds community is donating 13 bicycles to the Sheriff's Office for distribution to the county's needy children, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"The residents of Golden Ponds have supported the betterment of St. Lucie County for many years," said Sheriff Mascara. "The community has a vigorous Neighborhood Watch program as well as a Citizens on Patrol unit. The donation of bicycles is one more way the people of Golden Ponds make St. Lucie County a better community in which to live, work and play."
Each year, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office collects donations of bicycles for the county's needy children. A carefully supervised jail inmate work crew makes all necessary repairs and paints the bikes like new, under the direction of Sgt. Bob Hasse.
Monday morning at 9 a.m., Sgt. Hasse will be at Golden Ponds to receive the donated bicycles.
