St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces three arrests in the Aug. 10 murder of Daniel White, 22, of northern St. Lucie County
Less than 80 hours after the murder of 22-year-old Daniel White, of 8007 Kenwood Road in the northern St. Lucie County residential area known as Lakewood Park, three suspects were in custody, charged with the murder, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
The murder took place between 4 and 4:30 a.m. at the Kenwood Road home where White and several others lived. The shooting followed a fight at a party at the home earlier in the evening, Sheriff Mascara said.
Arrested for first-degree (pre-meditated) murder are three Fort Pierce residents:
Samuel Cleare, 21 (DOB 7/30/90); Joshua Giovengo, 20 (DOB 1/15/91); and Greg Ferraro, 21 (DOB 7/30/90.) Cleare is also charged with making false statements to law enforcement regarding a capital felony and obstruction of justice/tampering in the investigation of a capital felony.
St. Lucie County Sheriff's investigators arrested Cleare Friday. They arrested Giovengo and Ferraro today.

STATEMENT OF KEN J. MASCARA, AUGUST 13, 2011
ON WEDNESDAY, 8/10/11, AT 0425 HOURS, THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE RESPONDED TO 8007 KENWOOD DR., IN LAKEWOOD PARK, IN REFERENCE TO SHOOTING ACTIVITY. WHEN THE DEPUTIES ARRIVED THEY MADE CONTACT WITH CASEY JACKSON, WHO ADVISED HIS FRIEND DANIEL WHITE HAD JUST BEEN SHOT.
THE DEPUTIES MADE ENTRY INTO THE HOME AND SAW A BLOOD TRAIL LEADING TO THE VICTIM, WHO WAS IN THE KITCHEN LYING ON THE FLOOR. DANIEL WHITE WAS BLEEDING FROM A GUN SHOT WOUND. ST. LUCIE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE ARRIVED AND TRANSPORTED DANIEL WHITE TO LAWNWOOD MEDICAL EMERGENCY ROOM. DANIEL WHITE WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED BY THE E.R. DOCTOR AS A RESULT OF HIS INJURIES.
THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THERE WAS A PARTY AT THE RESIDENCE ON TUESDAY NIGHT. SOME TIME DURING THE NIGHT A FIGHT STARTED BETWEEN SEVERAL OF THE PARTY GOERS, INCLUDING DANIEL WHITE. SEVERAL PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE FIGHT LEFT THE RESIDENCE AROUND 2 AM, AND INDICATED THEY WERE GOING TO COME BACK TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS. TWO OF THESE SUBJECTS WERE GREG FERRARO AND JOSHUA GIOVENGO. GREG FERRARO AND JOSH GIOVENGO DROPPED OFF THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THEIR VEHICLE AND THEN PICKED UP A THIRD PERSON, SAMUEL CLEAR, AND WENT BACK TO THE KENWOOD ROAD ADDRESS. AFTER ARRIVING AT THE ADDRESS ALL THREE SUBJECTS COVERED THEIR FACES AND APPROACHED THE HOUSE.
CASEY JACKSON WAS IN THE LIVING ROOM WITH DANIEL WHITE WHEN THEY SAW WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SHADOW PASSING BY THE FRONT WINDOW. CASEY JACKSON AND WENT OUTSIDE TO SEE WHO WAS OUT THERE. WHEN THEY GOT OUTSIDE CASEY JACKSON DID NOT SEE ANYTHING, BUT DANIEL WHITE SAID "THE NEIGHBORS DOGS ARE BARKING, SOMEBODY'S OUT HERE".
IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT CASEY JACKSON SAW A SILHOUETTE OF SOMEONE WALKING AROUND A VEHICLE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE SILHOUETTE HAD A WHITE T-SHIRT COVERING THEIR FACE. CASEY JACKSON WAS STANDING IN THE VESTIBULE AREA AND DANIEL WHITE WAS STANDING OUT BY THE GARAGE.
CASEY JACKSON SAID HE HEARD APPROXIMATELY FOUR SHOTS AND RAN INTO THE HOUSE WITH DANIEL WHITE FOLLOWING BEHIND HIM. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT DANIEL WHITE TOLD CASEY JACKSON HE WAS SHOT. CASEY JACKSON ADVISED TWO SILHOUETTES APPEARED IN FRONT OF THE LIVING ROOM WINDOW AND BEGAN SHOOTING INTO THE HOUSE. CASEY JACKSON SAID HE SAW ANOTHER SHADOW AT THE BACK DOOR OF THE RESIDENCE AND HE RAN OVER AND FLUNG THE BACK DOOR OPEN.
CASEY JACKSON SAID THE PERSON WHO WAS AT THE BACK DOOR DROPPED A GUN AND RAN. CASEY JACKSON SAID THE TWO PEOPLE IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE CONTINUED TO SHOOT AND HE GRABBED THE GUN AND RETURNED FIRE. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE RESPONDING DEPUTIES ARRIVED ON SCENE.
AT APPROXIMATELY 0515 HOURS THE ON-SCENE SUPERVISOR WAS CONTACTED BY INDIAN RIVER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND INFORMED THAT AN INDIVIDUAL WITH A GUNSHOT INJURY TO THE ARM HAD JUST WALKED INTO THE INDIAN RIVER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL E.R. THIS SUBJECT WAS SAMUEL CLEARE, WHO HAD BEEN SHOT IN THE RIGHT UPPER ARM. HE WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL BY GREG FERRARO AND JOSHUA GIOVENGO. SAM CLEARE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LAWNWOOD TRAUMA CENTER FOR TREATMENT. JOSH GIOVENGO AND GREG FERRARO WERE TAKEN TO THE IRSO FOR A STATEMENT. ALL THERE SUBJECTS INDICATED THEY WERE IN VERO BEACH AND DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE EVENTS AT KENWOOD RD. SAM CLEARE SAID HE WAS SHOT SOMEWHERE ON 43RD AVE, AND THAT IS WHERE GREG FERRARO AND JOSH GIOVENGO PICKED HIM UP TO TAKE HIM TO THE HOSPITAL.
THE DETECTIVES CONTINUED TO INVESTIGATE THE SHOOTING AND ON FRIDAY ASKED SAM CLEARE TO COME TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR AN INTERVIEW. DURING THE INTERVIEW SAM CLEARE ADMITTED TO HIS PART OF THE INCIDENT AND IDENTIFIED GREG FERRARO AND JOSH GIOVENGO AS THE OTHER TWO PEOPLE AT THE RESIDENCE THAT WERE INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTING. SAM CLEARE WAS ARRESTED AND DETECTIVES ATTEMPTED TO LOCATE JOSH GIOVENGO AND GREG FERRARO. JOSH GIOVENGO AND GREG FERRARO WERE NOT LOCATED AND WARRANTS WERE ISSUED FOR BOTH SUBJECTS THIS MORNING.
AT 8 AM THIS MORNING DETECTIVES, WORKING ON A TIP, SET UP SURVEILLANCE ON A RESIDENCE LOCATED IN FORT PIERCE. A SHORT TIME LATER GREG FERRARO AND JOSH GIOVENGO WERE CONTACTED AND ASKED TO COME OUT OF THE HOUSE. BOTH SUBJECTS EXITED THE HOUSE AND WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY WITHOUT INCIDENT. NEITHER SUBJECT HAS GIVEN A STATEMENT AT THIS TIME.
SAMUEL CLEARE WAS ARRESTED AND BOOKED ON THE FOLLOWING CHARGES: - HOMICIDE - FIRST DEGREE - PREMEDITATED - MAKING FALSE STATEMENTS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT REGARDING A CAPITAL FELONY - OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE/TAMPERING IN A CAPITAL FELONY.
GREG FERRARO AND JOSHUA GIOVENGO WERE ARRESTED TODAY (8/13/11) AND BOOKED INTO THE ST. LUCIE COUNTY JAIL ON THE FOLLOWING CHARGE:
