St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces child pornography arrest of Scott Clayton Johnson

Wednesday night (June 29), the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Detectives executed a search warrant at 5307 Hickory Drive in Fort Pierce and arrested 46 year-old Scott Clayton Johnson for multiple child pornography-related charges.

Detectives assigned to the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) served a search warrant and located evidence in the residence indicating someone had been downloading large amounts of child pornography from the internet. Detectives interviewed Johnson who admitted he was the one who had been downloading the images and movies of young children engaged in various sexual acts. The victims in the movies appear to be pre-pubescent children from three to 14 years of age.

Scott Johnson also admitted to detectives he had also been producing child pornography movies inside his home and identified a young girl who he said participated in these movies. He said he met the girl years ago after befriending the child’s mother. Since then, he has had multiple opportunities to be alone with the child.

Detectives are currently working to locate the child depicted in the videos. Additional charges are pending against Johnson for activities involving the child.

Johnson was charged with four counts of production of child pornography, ten counts of downloading child pornography and ten counts of possession of child pornography. He is being held in the St. Lucie County jail in lieu of a $2.4 million dollar. Additional charges will be added after a complete forensic examination of items seized has been completed.

All detectives assigned to the ICAC Task Force have full time duties and perform work connected with investigation of child pornography in addition to their regular caseloads.

Since assembling the current team in January of 2010, detectives with the ICAC Task Force have investigated nineteen (19) cases involving child pornography, resulting in fourteen (14) arrests. Included in these nineteen (19) cases were seven (7) live victims, who were being sexually abused by the adult suspects. As a result of hard work and dedication by all involved, these children are now free from the horrific abuse they endured.
