St. Lucie County deputies get unexpected bonus while serving Palm Beach County arrest warrant in Port St. Lucie when they find a marijuana grow house, then arrest the two occupants on drug and other charges, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara
What began with St. Lucie County Sheriff's deputies serving a Palm Beach County arrest warrant led St. Lucie County deputies to discover a marijuana grow house, where the home's occupants were arrested on a variety of charges, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

"People involved in one kind of criminal activity often are involved with other illegal activities," said Sheriff Mascara. "In this case, our deputies started out serving an arrest warrant from Palm Beach County for unemployment compensation fraud on Joseph Puleo, 30, of 1021 S.W. Coleman Ave., Port St. Lucie. Deputies found a marijuana grow house capable of generating $250,000 a year in drug money. They arrested Puleo and cohabitant Amanda Register, 30, on several other charges. They also seized half a pound of marijuana."

Puleo is being held at the St. Lucie County jail on the Palm Beach County charge and the St. Lucie County drug-related charges. Amanda Register was jailed under $90,500 bond.

When deputies went to the Coleman Avenue, Port St. Lucie home, Register was there, but Puleo was shopping at the WalMart store on Gatlin Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, Sheriff Mascara said.

Deputies went to the store, found Puleo in the parking lot and took him into custody. * * *
