St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara asks for public's help in fatal car crash investigation
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara is asking anyone who witnessed a fatal car crash March 16 at 7:31 a.m. at the intersection of Airoso Boulevard and Prima Vista Boulevard.
"Donald Edward Warms, 88, of 566 Euclid Street, Port St. Lucie, died Sunday of injuries he received in the crash," Sheriff Mascara said. "Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit at 772-462-3296."
The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that Warms, who was driving a 1991 white Dodge Colt, died from blunt force trauma received in the crash, Sheriff Mascara said. Warms was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute, where he died Sunday.
According to deputies, both drivers had the green light at the intersection of Airoso Boulevard and Prima Vista Boulevard. Warms was driving north on Airoso Boulevard and turned left to go west on Prima Vista Boulevard.
Joseph Jacques, 53, of 1126 Irving Street, Port St. Lucie, driving a grey 1996 Toyota T-100 pickup truck, entered the intersection driving south. Jacques' pickup truck struck the right passenger side of Warms' car.
Warms did not yield the right of way, deputies reported.
Jacques was taken by ambulance to St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie, where he was treated and released. * * *
