St. Lucie County Crime Stoppers tip leads deputies to arrest high school student for possession of knife on school property this morning, Sheriff Mascara announces
An anonymous tip to Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers resulted in St. Lucie County School Resource Deputies arresting a 17-year-old Fort Pierce Westwood High School student this morning for felony possession of a weapon on school property, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"Our school-based deputies work hard every day to ensure that St. Lucie County school campuses are safe and secure places where students can learn and teachers can teach," Sheriff Mascara said. "Crime Stoppers continues to be an invaluable resource for law enforcement in our community."
Deputies stopped Reanne Alexander, 17, of Port St. Lucie, as she was about to go inside the high school and asked her if she had anything not permitted on campus. She admitted having a knife in her back pocket.
Deputies found the knife, arrested her and took her to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice's St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Pierce, where she was confined.
