St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara asks public's help to identify man who tried to abduct 9-year-old north-county girl Monday afternoon

St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara  is asking for the public's help to identify a man who tried to force a 9-year-old girl into his truck in northern St. Lucie County Monday.

"The man tried to force the girl into his truck near the 6900 block of Sebastian Road in the Lakewood Park area," said Sheriff Mascara.

The girl was riding her bicycle around 3 p.m. Monday when the suspect, driving a light blue pickup truck, pulled up beside her, grabbed her by the hair, told her to get in the truck and not to tell anybody. She was able to run away to a friend's house.

The girl described the man as a white male, 20 to 30 years old, with medium length blond hair driving a light blue, newer model pickup truck.

"We are asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 in St. Lucie County or detective offices, during business hours, at 772-462-3230," Sheriff Mascara said.
