Sheriff Mascara asks public's help to solve year-old double homicide case
Last Feb. 14, the bodies of two county residents were discovered behind a home south of Virginia Avenue. St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara says the Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the double murder, but detectives need more information.
"Travis John Lattimore and his girlfriend Sharpkina Yolanda Woods had lived in St. Lucie County for about five months when they were shot to death," Sheriff Mascara said. "Their bodies were found behind a home at 1700 Coronado Ave., Fort Pierce. They had been shot to death.
"If anyone has information about this crime, please call 9-1-1 in St. Lucie County anytime. During business hours, you can call Detective Lebeau or Sgt. King at 772-462-3230. If you want to give your information and remain anonymous, you can call Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477 (1-800-273-"TIPS") or visit the Crime Stoppers website at tcwatch.org. If your information leads to an arrest, you can be eligible for a cash reward without giving your name," Sheriff Mascara said.
Detectives have learned that Lattimore had an extensive criminal history in Miami-Dade County. At the time of his death, Miami-Dade homicide detectives had obtained an arrest warrant for Lattimore for a murder that occurred in that county Feb. 8, 2010. That was six days before the bodies of Lattimore and Woods were found in St. Lucie County.
"It's important that the person or persons who killed Lattimore and Woods be arrested and held accountable for their crimes," Sheriff Mascara said. "We need more information to make progress in this case." * * *
