Six illegals, 110 pounds of marijuana turned over to federal authorities, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara
Six illegals, nationalities unknown at this time, came ashore around 7 this morning on South Hutchinson Island near the Martin County line in St. Lucie County, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

"The illegals were spotted by someone who called 9-1-1 around 7 this morning from the Courtyard by Marriott hotel, 10978 South Ocean Drive," Sheriff Mascara said.

Deputies took into custody a total of six illegals,  literally dripping with water, on South Hutchinson Island. The illegals were carrying two duffel bags containing about 110 pounds of marijuana, said Sheriff Mascara.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office turned the illegals and the drugs over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office recovered a boat and turned it over to U.S. Coast Guardsmen from the Fort Pierce station.
