St. Lucie County Sheriff's Explorer Post hosts Delegates Weekend
St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Post 400 is hosting a statewide Sheriff's Explorer delegates weekend starting Friday, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

"This conference will bring 160 Sheriff's Explorers and 30 adult advisors to St. Lucie County from around the state," Sheriff Mascara said. "Activities will include firearms competition, physical agility course, cover and concealment course, traffic stop training and more."

The host hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn, PGA Village, Port St. Lucie.

This is the first time Post 400 has sponsored a delegates weekend.

An awards banquet will take place Saturday night at the Polish American Club, Prima Vista Boulevard, Port St. Lucie.

The Sheriff's Explorer program provides carefully supervised activities year-round for children ages 14 to 19, as well as a Junior Cadet program for ages 10 to 13.

The participants, who have expressed an interest in a criminal justice career, train each week. They study law enforcement-related topics, volunteer their time within the Sheriff's Office, and perform numerous hours of community service at functions in St. Lucie County.

Those who want more information may contact Explorer Advisor Deputy Sal Anicito, at 772-871-5358.
