Bond set at $260,000 for Matthew Morris this morning
This morning, St. Lucie County Judge Kathryn Nelson set bond at $260,000 for Matthew Morris, a St. Lucie County Deputy Sheriff on administrative leave without pay following his arrest Tuesday for sexual battery by a police officer and official misconduct.
Morris was taken to the St. Lucie County jail following his early Tuesday afternoon arrest by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.
His bond hearing took place through a two-way video link from Judge Nelson's downtown Fort Pierce courtroom to a room within the secure area of the county jail.
Judge Nelson ruled this morning that If Morris posts bond, he must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and have no contact with his accuser, a Fort Pierce woman whose identity is protected by state law.
