St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara invites women to sign up for self-defense class
A self-defense class for women will take place in October, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"The course is called 'R.A.D.,' which stands for 'Rape Agression Defense.' It is an empowering program that gives women a chance to enhance their personal defense skills," said Sheriff Mascara. "The goal of the program is to develop and enhance a woman's self-defense options in case she is attacked."
The course will take place Oct. 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gymnasium of Northport K-8 School, 250 N.W. Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, Sheriff Mascara said. The minimum age for students is 13.
The non-refundable course fee is $40 per person, and $20 for each additional family member.
