St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara asks those who saw fatal Saturday night car crash to contact deputies
A three-car crash Saturday night at U.S.1 and Midway Road took the life of a 67-year-old Fort Pierce man, and at least half a dozen motorists saw the crash, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

Now, Sheriff Mascara is asking those witnesses to contact his investigators who are looking into the 8:30 p.m., Saturday incident.

"The Traffic Unit deputy who is investigating the crash was on patrol near the intersection where the crash took place," Sheriff Mascara said. "He heard the cars hitting each other and saw a number of cars in or near the intersection. We need those witnesses to contact us."

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit during business hours at 772-462-3297, or 9-1-1 in St. Lucie County anytime, said Sheriff Mascara. "We need the eyewitnesses to help us with the details of what happened," he said.

In the crash, Steven Joseph Daleb, 51, of 3359 Columbrina Circle, Port St. Lucie, was driving southbound around 8:46 p.m. Saturday when he rear-ended a Suzuki SUV driven by Donnie Carol Minor, 67, of 4720 Kirby Loop Road, Fort Pierce. Minor's wife, Linda Prince Minor, 65, was in the passenger seat of the couple's SUV. She was not injured.

Deputies said Daleb's car then struck a southbound 2004 Ford SUV that was just east of and next to Minor's car. The Ford SUV was driven by Collen Michael O'Brien, 19, of 2502 S.E. Estella Terrace, Palm City.

St. Lucie County fire rescue workers took Donnie Carol Minor and by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute, Fort Pierce, where Donnie Carol Minor died from the injuries he received in the crash.

O'Brien was not injured in the crash.
