St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces Sheriff's Citizens Academy starting Sept. 1 has room for only 20 students, so now is the time to sign up
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Citizens Academy will take place starting Sept. 1, so now is the time to sign up, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
"I believe it's important for the members of our community to thoroughly understand the workings of their Sheriff's Office," Sheriff Mascara said. "The 46 ½ - hour Citizens Academy is an excellent way to gain this understanding."
Those who wish to participate have three sign-up options:
- Call the Sheriff's Office Training Unit at 772-462-3604. This is also the number to call for more information on the Citizens Academy.
- Visit the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office web site at www.stluciesheriff.com. From the drop-down Community menu, select Citizens Academy. At the bottom of the Citizens Academy page, select “Citizens Academy Application.”
- Visit the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office administrative offices, 4700 West Midway Road, Fort Pierce, and ask the receptionist for a Citizens Academy application.
Classes begin Sept. 1 and end Nov. 3. Classes are Wednesday night except for two Saturday sessions, Oct. 2 and Oct. 23.
Because there are only 20 spots available for the Citizens Academy, Sheriff Mascara advises those who are interested to sign up now.
