St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara announces one man arrested in shooting incident in Sheraton Plaza subdivision of St. Lucie County
Deputies arrested one man in connection with a shooting which took place in the Sheraton Plaza subdivision of St. Lucie County.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. last night St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the corner of Sterling Court and Kingsley Drive in Sheraton Plaza, a subdivision located the unincorporated area of St. Lucie County, Northwest of Ft. Pierce for a report of gunfire.
Deputies arrived and found a male victim, Jonathan Bernard Kines, age 18 of St. Lucie County, with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was later transported to Lawnwood regional medical center in Ft. Pierce were he was treated and released for his injuries.
Responding deputies and K-9 units tracked the suspect to a residence on Sterling Court. The suspect, Matthew Lester Haynes, Age 26 of St. Lucie County was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with one count of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. A loaded firearm was recovered after a search of the area where the suspect was apprehended.
Sheriff Mascara said “ This was a great job by all involved in this investigation. A quick response by our Road Patrol and K-9 units and some great investigative work on the part of our detectives led to the arrest of the suspect in this case”.
Mr. Haynes presently remains in the St. Lucie County jail in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.
