St. Lucie County Sheriff releases proposed budget for 2010 - 11 Fiscal Year
Today, St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara delivered to the Board of County Commissioners the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning Oct.1.
"Since taking office, I have done my best to lead the Sheriff's Office efficiently and effectively," Sheriff Mascara said. "We strive to provide the best criminal justice services possible in a manner that is respectful of the taxpayers of St. Lucie County."
The Sheriff continued: "We operate with a lean organizational structure because that is the best way to fulfill our mission of protecting lives and property. My budget for the coming fiscal year proposes an even leaner structure, in view of the county's difficult economic climate."
"I have developed a budget with manpower levels to keep our county safe. I am proposing a budget that is 4.91 percent less than our current fiscal year budget," said Sheriff Mascara. "It will be a great challenge to protect St. Lucie County with this level of funding, but we will do our best, in cooperation with the Board of County Commissioners, to keep our community safe and livable."
