St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces "Operation Sundown" starting April 15
St. Lucie County Sheriff wants to encourage people to drive safely and defensively, particularly at night. That's why the Sheriff's Office is putting "Operation Sundown" into effect starting April 15.
"Our goal is to encourage people driving cars and motorcycles to obey all speed and traffic laws," Sheriff Mascara said. "We are announcing this in advance to let motorists know that we will be on the streets at night to enforce the safety laws."
Concentrated speeding enforcement will be in addition to normal patrols and will start at 5 p.m.
"We will concentrate on Indian River Drive, the area of Airoso Boulevard and Floresta Drive and U.S.1 from Midway Road to Prima Vista Boulevard," Sheriff Mascara said. "But we will be enforcing all traffic and safety laws throughout the county."
