Here is a statement from St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara, updating information on the Sunday double homicide in St. Lucie County

I WANT TO UPDATE OUR COMMUNITY CONCERNING OUR ONGOING INVESTIGATION OF THE DEATHS OF TRAVIS JOHN LATTIMORE AND SHARPKINA YOLANDA WOODS.

BOTH VICTIMS WERE FOUND AT APPROXIMATELY 2 PM ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14, BEHIND THE RESIDENCE LOCATED AT 1700 CORONADO AVENUE IN FORT PIERCE.

EARLIER THAT SAME DAY, A SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE USUALLY DRIVEN BY SHARPKINA YOLANDA WOODS BUT OWNED BY HER MOTHER WAS DISCOVERED AT 126 NORTH 28TH STREET.

ON MONDAY, AUTOPSIES WERE PERFORMED ON BOTH VICTIMS BY THE MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE. THE RESULTS OF THE AUTOPSIES CONFIRMED BOTH VICTIMS DIED AS A RESULT OF INURIES SUSTAINED AFTER BEING SHOT. IT WAS ALSO CONFIRMED THAT SHARPKINA YOLANDA WOODS WAS 4 WEEKS PREGNANT.

THIS IS NOW MURDER INVESTIGATION.

OUR INVESTIGATION HAS CONCLUDED THAT THE SUV, A GREEN 2004 FORD EXPEDITION, THAT WAS FOUND AT 126 NORTH 28TH STREET, WAS THE ACTUAL CRIME SCENE OF THOSE SHOOTINGS.

WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW IS WHERE THAT SUV WAS LOCATED AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTINGS.

AT THE CONCLUSION OF THIS PRESS CONFERENCE, I AM GOING TO INVITE THE MEDIA TO MOVE TO OUR EVIDENCE PROCESSING AREA AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE SUV TO SHARE WITH OUR COMMUNITY TO SEE IF IN FACT SOMEONE SAW THIS VAN IN THE LATE HOURS OF SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13, AND THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14.

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION CAN CALL TREASURE COAST CRIMESTOPPERS AT 1-800-273-TIPS,  1-800-273-8477. YOU CAN REPORT YOUR INFORMATION WITHOUT GIVING YOUR NAME AND IF THE INFORMATION LEADS TO AN ARREST, YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CASH REWARD.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DETECTIVES AND CRIMINOLOGISTS FROM THE CRIME LAB CONTINUE TO WORK ON RECOVERING AND PROCESSING FORENSIC SAMPLES FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE LOCATION THE VICTIMS WERE FOUND.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DETECTIVES CONTINUE TO FOLLOW LEADS IN THIS CASE, AND I WANT TO THANK OUR COMMUNITY FOR SHARING INFORMATION WITH US.

I AGAIN WANT TO THANK OUR COMMUNITY FOR INFORMATION IN THIS CASE.
