This morning around 9:30, two St. Lucie County residents riding horses east of U.S.1 found a 91-year-old man reported missing Saturday night, Sheriff Ken J. Mascara announced.
Johann Rainer left his home at 10 Lake Vista Trail, Apt. 206, Port St. Lucie, around 5:30 p.m., Saturday, according to Raner’s wife, Eby C. Rainer. Lake Vista Trail is in the Vista St. Lucie subdivision, east of U.S.1 and south of Kitterman Road in unincorporated St. Lucie County.
Mrs. Rainer assumed her husband was going for a walk, but she noticed the family car missing aorund 7:30 p.m. and called the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center.
Johann Rainer, described by his wife as easily confused and prone to getting lost, apparently drove his 2005 gray Toyota Corolla down Kitterman road, east of U.S.1 and northwest of his Vista St. Lucie neighborhood. He drove his car past the end of the pavement onto a horse trail and spent the night in his car until he was discovered this morning.
He was in good health and good spirits, Sheriff Mascara said, and he’s been returned to his wife.
“We thank the county residents who found Mr. Rainer for promptly calling 9-1-1 so we could reunite him with his wife,” said Sheriff Mascara. * * *
