St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara releases identity of woman whose body was found this morning at construction site
The woman whose body construction workers found this morning at a construction site in St. Lucie County north of Port St. Lucie is Elizabeth A. Pollack, 36 (DOB 1/26/73), of 5112 N.W. Ever Road, Port St. Lucie, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

“The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy today, with a preliminary finding that the death does not appear to be suspicious, but the cause of death is unknown,” Sheriff Mascara said. “The Medical Examiner is sending body fluid and tissue samples to an out-of-town lab for analysis, and it is hoped the results of those tests will help determine the cause of death.”

This morning shortly after 6, Port St. Lucie police were dispatched to the Shell service station at St. Lucie West with a report of a woman at the gas station who appeared dazed and incoherent, possibly under the influence of drugs. Police determined her identity and called her husband, Daniel Pollack, who drove to the gas station to get his wife, Sheriff Mascara said.

Mr. Pollack decided his wife needed treatment at New Horizons community mental health center on Midway Road west of Selvitz Road, according to Sheriff Mascara. Daniel Pollack drove there with his wife, intending to have her admitted, but she jumped out of the car and ran away, investigators said.

Daniel Pollack was unable to find her, then notified New Horizons of the situation and went home.

Shortly after 9 this morning, construction workers at a construction site just east of New Horizons found Elizabeth Pollack’s clothed body lying near a pine tree and called 9-1-1.
