St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara announces arrests in overnight shooting
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon arrested two county residents for the shooting of a 23-year-old north county man at a late night party at a home west of Fort Pierce, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

“Our investigation revealed that Jeremy Palacio, 21 (DOB 10/1/87) fired a single gunshot that grazed the scalp of Dereck Gervais, 20 (DOB 12/11/88), late last night,” Sheriff Mascara said. “We are charging Palacio with attempted murder. Also, we are charging Robert Bourbon, 19 (DOB 7/2/90) with being an accessory to attempted murder. Both defendants are being held without bond at the St. Lucie County jail until a bond hearing Thursday morning.”

Investigators determined that the shooting took place shortly after midnight in the driveway of 2850 South Jenkins Road (near Okeechobee Road, west of Fort Pierce.) The shooting took place during an argument between Gervais, of 7601 North Boulevard, Fort Pierce, and Palacio, of 2839 S.W. Ann Arbor Road, Port St. Lucie.

Two residents of the South Jenkins Road home, 23-year-old Christopher Jorge Alfonso(DOB 7/28/86), and 22-year-old Michael Anthony Laneve (DOB 11/8/86) were arrested for the misdemeanor of having an open house party at which alcohol or drugs, or both, were available to juveniles.

After the shooting, an acquaintance of Gervais drove him to the emergency room of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute where Gervais was treated for a scalp wound and released. Hospital officials contacted the Sheriff’s Office.
