St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara invites anglers to participate in 17th Annual Sheriff’s Explorer Fishing Tournament on Labor Day weekend
 
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara invites anglers to participate in the 17th Annual Sheriff’s Explorer Fishing Tournament on Labor Day Weekend, Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Fort Pierce City Marina, One Ave A Fort Pierce.

The captains’ meeting and registration will take place Friday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. at the marina.

The tournament will feature thousands of dollars in cash and door prizes. The entry fee for the offshore tournament is $195 per boat.

Proceeds will benefit St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Explorer Post 400.

The Sheriff’s Explorer Post has 158 young adults, 10 to 20 years of age, who are interested in law enforcement and community services.

Explorers participate in a number of projects throughout the year including McGruff (crime dog), visit the elderly at nursing homes, help feed the needy, fingerprint children through the missing children’s prevention program, stage bicycle rodeos, direct traffic and crowd control at community events, assist with hurricane aftermath distribution sites, and perform countless hours of additional community service.

Eligible species for the offshore tournament are Dolphin, King, Wahoo and Grouper.

Heaviest Fish Wins. Prizes will be: First place $3000, second place $2000, third place $1500, fourth place $1000, fifth place $750, sixth place $500, seventh place free weekend The Sandhurst Hotel and Suites, eighth place Rod and Reel donated Professional Outfitters, ninth place One night Free Dockage at the Fort Pierce City Marina, 10th place $50 Gas Card, 11th place cooler, 12th place fishing lures.

In the Junior Angler Division (15 years and under) First place $500 savings bond, second place $200 savings bond, third place $100 savings bond. (maximum 200 boats)

The entry fee for the inshore tournament is  $175 per boat.

Eligible species include: Redfish, Trout, and Snook. Heaviest Fish Per Specie Wins. Firstplace $1000, secondplace $500, thirdplace $300, The Jr. Angler Division; First place $500 savings bond, second place $200 savings bond, third place $100 savings bond. (Maximum number of boats: 100.)
