St. Lucie County Sheriff Mascara invites the public to participate in Sheriff’s Citizens Academy

Members of the public who want a better understanding of their St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office are invited to participate in the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy from Aug. 29 – Oct. 24.

“The 42 ½ hours of classes, which are free, will give people a detailed knowledge of how the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office protects the public to make our community safe and livable,” said Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.

Topics will include criminal and civil law, proactive law enforcement, investigations, detention, emergency operations, and tools of the trade including bomb disposal, the K-9 Unit and how deputies train with firearms.

The course is free, but space is limited, Sheriff Mascara said.

Information is available by calling the Training Unit at 462-3604.
