Come to “The Raid on Fort Pierce” Dec. 13 and 14 to benefit St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Explorer Post 400
 
What: “The Raid on Fort Pierce”

What’s that: A period-authentic Civl War battle hosted by 8th Florida Company C, 75th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment - 8th annual

Why: This event is a benefit for St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Explorer Post 400. Proceeds will help the Explorers attend out-of-town Explorer conferences and competitions. More than 100 children participate in the Explorer post, where they learn about law enforcement as a career, assist with community events and take part in supervised activities that build character and patriotism.

When: Dec. 13 and 14 at Savannas Recreation Area, St. Lucie County, east of U.S.1 on Midway Road. Dec. 13 (Saturday) camps open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., main battle at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 (Sunday): camps open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., main battle at 1 p.m.

Other activities include: living history demonstrations, Sutler’s Row, food vendors, authentic Civil War camps, ladies’ tea, blacksmith and much more

Cost: $5 adults, $1 children, those under 12 admitted free; free parking for all
