St. Lucie County man dies in auto repair accident south of Fort Pierce, according to Sheriff Mascara
A 51-year-old local resident lost his life this morning in an apparent accident while repairing a car just south of Fort Pierce, according to St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
Deputies believe they have identified the victim and are in the process of locating and notifying relatives. Once that happens, the Sheriff’s Office will release the man’s name.
According to detectives, the man was working this morning beneath a 1992 Ford Taurus that belonged to a friend or relative. The incident occurred at South 22nd Street and Barbra Avenue, just south of Edwards Road.
The front of the car was sitting on jack stands on a grassy area where the victim was working on the car, a front-wheel drive vehicle. Apparently, while his head was below the front of the car, it shifted its weight causing the jack stands to give way. The car’s front fell on the man’s head, killing him
