St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit will install wheelchair access ramp for Fort Pierce man Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Mascara announces

The members of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit have purchased a wheelchair-access ramp for an elderly Fort Pierce man and will install the ramp Thursday afternoon at 4:30 at his 2604 Ohio Avenue home.

“I have always been proud of the members of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office for giving of themselves to help others, but I have never been more proud of Sheriff's Office members than when I learned about this project,” Sheriff Mascara said.

“K-9 Unit members spent their own funds to buy the ramp and other materials, and Thursday they will install the ramp at Walter Blossom’s home on their own time and at their own expense,” said the Sheriff.

Walter Blossom, who is in his late 60s, uses a wheelchair, is a patient of visiting nurse Michelle Cavallaro, wife of Deputy Tony Cavallaro, one of the K-9 Unit members who will install the wheelchair-access ramp Thursday afternoon.

Members of the media are invited Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. to 2604 Ohio Avenue, Fort Pierce. Here is a web link to the location:
