Security professionals’ organization salutes three St. Lucie County Deputies for outstanding achievements, Sheriff Ken J. Mascara announces
St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Sgt. Barbara Smith, Detective Fred Wilson and Deputy Gary Gonsalves received special recognition awards Wednesday from the Palm Beach chapter of the world’s largest organization of security professionals, according to Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
“ASIS International’s local chapter recognized three of our deputies who have made outstanding contributions to public safety, their community and the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office,” Sheriff Mascara said. “They have made all of us proud of their achievements.”
Sgt. Barbara Smith is the law enforcement advisor of St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Explorer Post 400. She has been a member of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office for 16 years.
Detective Fred Wilson, a Sheriff's Office member for 14 years, was the lead investigator in the murders of the four members of the Escobedo family of Palm Beach County, including two young boys.
Deputy Gary Gonsalves, a 13-year veteran of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, heads the agency’s video productions.
