CANTEEN: Commissary (Canteen) orders are available to inmates housed at the St. Lucie County Jail. A private contractor provides this service. An inmate’s personal account can not be discussed with anyone except the inmate and he/she is provided with the means to request information on their account. Canteen deliveries are made weekly throughout the facility from Tuesday morning through Friday evening.

MAIL: General correspondence between an inmate, family and friends is encouraged. Indigent inmates are provided writing materials and postage if requested to correspond with the above at reasonable intervals. Legal packets to correspond with criminal attorneys and/or the courts are also provided, if requested.
Effective August 2, 2010, all incoming mail must be in the form of a post card. Legitimate legal and/or privileged mail is excluded from this policy. Post cards with computer generated pictures printed on them will be allowed. All incoming postcards received must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum size – 3.5 x 4.25
- Maximum size – 4.25 x 6.0
- Written in blue or black ink
- Include inmate’s full name, ID#, housing location and the senders name and return address.
The inmate ID# and housing location can be found on this website under " Jail & Inmate Info" then "Inmate Look up".
Privileged mail includes mail from attorneys, courts, and public officials; they will not be required to use post cards. Outgoing mail being sent by persons incarcerated in our facility may still be sent by means of envelope and letter and/or post cards.
Due to limited storage space, unauthorized items (books, excess clothing or hygiene products, etc.) are not accepted. Each inmate is permitted to retain twenty (20) approved photographs (no larger than 5 x 7). Any graphic or sexually explicit photographs or photocopies will be disposed of as nuisance contraband. Any post cards soiled with perfume, lipstick, etc. will also be discarded.
No computer printed material or pictures are allowed. |

MEDICAL: Health care services are provided through a contracted health care group. While incarcerated in the St. Lucie County Jail all inmates have the right to medical care and will not be refused because of insufficient funds. Intake screenings, medical histories/physicals, chronic illnesses, mental health services, referred illnesses, follow-up care and medical emergencies are provided free of charge.

MONEY: All money is receipted and deposited in an inmate’s individual account upon entry into the facility. These funds may be used for purchasing commissary items and will be used for any expenses incurred (booking fee, subsistence fee, self-initiated and non-emergency medical care). For funding an inmate account refer to our page for "Inmate Accounts"

PROPERTY: Released property can be picked up Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

VISITATION: Private attorneys or public defenders are permitted to visit at any time. Each inmate will list a choice of five (5) visitors on his/her visitor card. They may change their choice only three times during their entire incarceration.

- Visitors should not have been booked into this facility within the past twelve (12) months. Disposition of the case is not considered.
- Proper identification such as a valid picture ID issued by federal, state or a local government agency are acceptable.
- All visitors and their vehicles are subject to search upon entering or leaving the facility grounds.
- Visitors under the influence of intoxicants or exhibiting unruly behavior will not be allowed to remain on the grounds of the facility, or permitted to visit, and will be prohibited from entering the facility in the future.
- All visitors must be appropriately attired. Those rules are posted in the lobby of the facility.
- All visitors must be on the inmates visitation card.
- No one under the age of eighteen (18) is allowed.
- It is recommended that you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of visitation and no later than 30 minutes prior to the end of each visitation schedule. This will allow staff time to move the inmate to the visitation area and will assist if there are multiple visitors for the same inmate.
- If you have any questions, please contact the jail prior to your visit at 772-462-3450.
