Combat Auto Theft
Combat Auto Theft (C.A.T.) is a statewide program that was implemented locally to reduce the growing number of auto thefts. The program allows any Florida law enforcement officer to stop vehicles displaying the C.A.T. decal between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. If a C.A.T decal is displayed, the deputy sheriff or police officer needs no other reason to stop that vehicle during those hours. Most vehicles are stolen during the early morning hours without the owner's knowledge. Combat Auto Theft gives law enforcement the edge in recovering one of your biggest investments and assists in apprehending those involved.
To register for this free program, you must reside in St. Lucie County at least seasonally, be the registered owner of the vehicle, and present a valid driver license and vehicle registration card. If you do not reside in St. Lucie County, you should contact your local law enforcement agency. Registration can be made on Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the locations listed below. An appointment may be necessary for registration at sub-stations.
