Captain Charlie Scavuzzo is the Patrol Operations Commander of the Saint Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Department Of Law Enforcement, with over 23 years of experience in criminal justice.
In 1989, he began his career in Law Enforcement at the Fort Pierce Police Department. He served as a Patrol Officer and a Special Operations Detective in the field of narcotics investigations.
In 1993, he moved to the Saint Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. He has served as a Road Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer and Master Deputy. He was a Street Crime Enforcement Detective, Long Term Narcotics Detective and served on the Federal Joint Narcotics DEA Task Force as a Task Force Officer. During his career, he has also served as a Major Crimes Detective, which included Homicide Investigation and other violent crimes.
In 1999, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served in Patrol and the Special Investigations Unit. In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he served in the Special Investigations Unit and Professional Standards Division.
In 2013, Captain Scavuzzo was promoted to his current rank.
Captain Scavuzzo has attended University of Louisville, Southern Police Institute, and Command Officer School in 2002 and he is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy 250th class.
